Narrative Description: Two of three as published volumes, bound as three volumes in half leather, 5 raised bands, gilt tooling and titles. Ex Lib with usual markings, but never circulated; hinges starting, text block is in fine condition, clean and tight. First edition limited to 108 copies, signed and numbered by the publisher ("D Nutt"). Includes essays by Andrew Lang and Oskar Sommer, the complete text of Caxton's Malory, and the groundbreaking "Studies of Sources". Has tipped in "Editor's Note" with explanations of how Caxton's typography has been interpreted in this edition. Cited in the EB as the reference source for Malory and credited in the same article: "Thanks mainly to the labors of Dr Oskar Sommer we can now assign the majority of the books to their separate sources...". [Armorial bookplate of Sir James Liege Hulett, the pioneer of the South African sugar industry and the founder of Tongaat-Hulett Sugar, as well as railways, schools, etc.] An important and scarce Arthurian title in an attractive binding.
