Narrative Description:
England, Lincoln, Lincoln (Lincolnshire), Early printed books {Bibliography} {Catalogs}, Cathedral libraries {Catalogs}. This famous library, designed by Wren for the Lincoln Cathedral, consists of some 8,000 printed books and is based largely on the books acquired by bibliophile Michael Honywood. It is rich in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century continental literature, including rare Italian plays, European pamphlets and broadsides, Dutch ballads, and may religious books and tracts. This Catalogue, compiled by the Assistant Librarian of the Bodleian (Oxford), is a complete record of the books in the collection, and is supplemented with helpful cross references to the STC, Wing, Adams, and Goff. A valuable and usable reference bibliography.
