The rights in the designs, pictures, logos, photographs and content of this Site are owned by or licensed to Carpe Libris, LLC (Carpe Libris). They are protected by copyright, trademarks and other intellectual property rights. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, republish, display, post or transmit any part of this Site without the written permission of Carpe Libris. You may view or print individual pages only for your own personal use.
3. This Site provides links to and content from other Internet sites and resources. Because Carpe Libris has no control over these sites and resources, you acknowledge and agree that Carpe Libris is not responsible for the availability of these external sites or resources and does not endorse and is not responsible for any content, advertising products, services or other materials on or available from these sites or resources or their business partners.
4. We do not accept any liability for the use made by you of the items you purchase from Carpe Libris, or of the suitability of them for your purpose.
5. These terms and your use of this Site are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and only the U.S. Courts will decide any disputes.
6. Carpe Libris may change the Site or these terms at any time. If you use the Site after Carpe Libris has changed the terms you will be bound by the new terms.

Terms and Conditions of Sale

It is our policy to abide by the ABAA ethics code, the strictest and most sweeping code in the American book trade. Our terms and conditions of sale, accordingly clearly and explicitly stated below, are a reflection of this.

On a related matter, we endeavor to provide an accurate description of all items offered for sale. We vouch for their authenticity, making every reasonable effort to establish their true nature, and offer a full cash return policy as a protection to our customers in the event that the item is not as described. However if you have any questions or concerns about an item’s content or physical condition please contact us prior to making a purchase. We’d be much happier answering your questions in advance of purchase--ensuring a good fit and sparing both you or your giftee, and us, any disappointment and the potential inconvenience of a return.

We are happy to offer discounts to dealers who provide us with the appropriate resale certificate documentation, however we can only do this for items ordered from us directly and not thru ABE due to ABE's new fee structures.

1. All items are offered subject to prior sale.
2. Orders will ship after the payment clears and the funds are in our account, unless the sale is to a qualified library or institution, for which we can invoice according to their requirements. Goods will be held for 14 days after receipt of order, pending payment receipt; if payment is not received in full within that time then we reserve the right to cancel the order and re-list the inventory for sale.
3. We only accept payments in U.S. dollars from PayPal approved countries.
4. We may require additional information before we will consider shipping to an unconfirmed address. We reserve the right not to ship to unconfirmed addresses (e.g., where the billing address is different from the shipping address).
5. Shipping, and handling charges are additional. Typical shipping rates for an averaged sized book are provided below. If your order is unusually valuable, heavy or oversized, there may be additional shipping and handling charges. On the other hand often we are able to reduce shipping charges for single orders of multiple items. We will contact you via email if any adjustments are needed to the original quote.
6. Purchases shipped to destinations in Connecticut are additionally subject to Connecticut sales tax. Foreign orders are subject to any applicable taxes, duties, and customs charges.
7. We currently accept the following payment methods:
   • Direct Payment to Carpe Libris
   This option will bring up an email message to us with the item information in the subject line. Please provide your full name and contact information. You can type in a question, or if you want to place an order indicate how you would like to pay (i.e. by check, money order, cashier’s check, or bank transfer) and what the bill-to and ship-to names and addresses are. If you want to combine multiple books into one order just let us know their inventory numbers. We will quote you back in a reply email message indicating a total price, including shipping, handling and sales taxes (if applicable). Make payments payable to Carpe Libris, LLC. Banking transactions must be drawn on a U.S. or Canadian Bank.

   If you have a PayPal account and you want to purchase one item using the Buy Now feature you can use the link provided on our Site for that purpose.
   • PayPal Shopping Cart
   If you have a PayPal account and you would like to purchase several items using the shopping cart feature you can use the link provided on our Site to continue browsing then check out when you are ready.
   • Credit Card using ABEBooks
   If we have listed your selection on ABE then you can use the link provided on our Site to access our book on their site and they will process Visa or Mastercard payments on our behalf.
8. Customers are requested to provide full name and email to be used for any correspondence related to an order, full name of recipient (if not person placing the order), billing address, shipping address (if different than billing address), and payment instructions at time of order. Please note that orders shipped through FEDEX or UPS cannot be shipped to a post office box.
9. Orders are typically processed and shipped within 3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) of receipt of funds in our account. If for any reason we are unable to meet this timeframe we will notify you via email to determine if you wish to proceed with the order as is, change your shipping terms, or optionally cancel your order for a full cash refund.
10. Orders in the U.S. are normally shipped via USPS book rate. If you need faster service, please specify priority (2-3 day delivery) or express mail (usually overnight). All U.S. orders are sent with proof of shipment, and those over $250 are sent fully insured, signature required.

• Foreign shipments
Foreign shipments are typically sent via a combination of air and surface that usually takes 12-30 days** for delivery depending on location. On international orders, we charge shipping and handling (including insurance) at cost. We recommend parcel post surface or parcel post air for foreign orders because these two methods can be insured. Book rate surface or air, Global Priority and small packet surface or air cannot be insured. Please note that we are not responsible for the loss or damage of uninsured foreign orders.
• Expedited domestic shipment, foreign (surface or air), sets and extra heavy books require additional shipping and handling fees. Please ask for a quote.

**Shipping times cannot be guaranteed. They are only estimates based on the carriers' delivery times, and do not include Customs processing. If your order will pass through Customs, please expect a delay.
11. Return Policy: All books are guaranteed as described. Any item ordered through our Site, ABE, or through our catalogues (except if the book is described as "w.a.f." or "as is") may be returned for any reason for a full cash refund (or other mutually agreeable arrangement) if we are notified of the request for return via email within 10 days of receipt and if the original item is returned to us in the same condition as we shipped it. Absolutely no refunds or exchanges if the return is not post-marked within 5 business days of the return notification. Refunds are limited to the original purchase price; shipping charges in both directions will also be refunded if the item is not as described. Returned items must be returned to us via U.S. postal service for delivery in 3-6 days, with proof-of shipment which can be tracked online, unless we authorize other arrangements. The proof-of-shipment documentation must show that you shipped to our mailing address. Additionally, for items valued at $250.00 USD or more, you must return them fully insured and be able to provide a signature from a representative of Carpe Libris as proof of receipt for the return.
